PEL is an interdisciplinary lab whose research focuses on themes of pitch perception, acoustics, psychology, and music education. My current focus is on the development of a program and corresponding interface allowing for real-time analysis of data generated by vocal performance, accomplished by comparing voice-dosimetry data from points associated with forced oscillations against those associated with relatively sympathetic oscillations. The interface will include visual feedback (intended for the vocalist), allowing for further analysis of the effectiveness of visual cues on singing accuracy as well as differing phenomenological experiences of pitch-harmonization.
